LoL Champs

My favorite champions (“mains”) are:

  • Ashe. Big Arrow is my favorite thing ever. Nothing is funnier than hitting an enemy champ from my fountain in a game-changing way. Especially when the vector is a Big Shiny Slow Arrow. I run her with Flash and Ghost and am otherwise a paranoid escape specialist meets assist queen.
  • Akali. I love her. She’s fast, tricky, and hits hard. Fun mind games with her large “inviza-circle” ability.
  • Amumu. I love him. He’s my tank now.
  • Soraka. I run her as support, currently taking spell vamp and AP. She’s really my main. If we lose a game, I bring out Soraka so we can win a game. She can single-handedly turn the tide of a team fight to our favor. Other members of my team have taken up support now, so I’m usually one of the top three.
  • KarmaTricky to play but damn fun. I’ve brought her out of retirement as her rarity means few seem to know how to deal with her. I play her as support. They’re about to redesign her from the ground up; she could use it, but I’m nervous.
Champions in the garage:
  • Tryndamere: No longer a viable solo top because everybody expects him up there and hard-counters him with an AD ranged. He can’t jungle because there are just far too many better options. I fill a very similar roll on my team with Akali and I enjoy her more. Tryn can bot with a partner. Akali can bot with a partner; she can mid; she can solo top.
  • Ahri Nine-Tailz: She’s a succubus that’s actually a fox. She’s like a ranged Tryndamere; at least, when I play her that way I get ganks and I don’t die very often. The idea is simple: Endless Rage is always on cooldown and thus she must always be ready to escape before engaging. Akali has effectively replaced her in my toolkit.
  • Kayle: My first favorite. If only there was a stat for “Ganks Denied”. That’s basically what I do with her. She is currently “Retired” for me, though.
  • Vlad. There are champions that fit his team position better. He was a very early favorite of mine though.
  • Alistar. Not sure what it is, but I went from having a good time with this guy to royally sucking with him. He’s benched. I ran him strictly as a tank. He lacks an initiate and his cooldowns are long.
  • Mordekaiser. He’s fun but not my favorite.
  • Lee Sin (Jungle). I’m fundamentally bad as melee, but I like him.
  • Tristana. She’s cute, but Ashe fills the same role and personally I enjoy Ashe more. Still, nice for variety.
  • Master Yi. I bought him to jungle. I am terrible with him.
Champions I own and hate:
  • Fiddlesticks. No, really. I hate how this champion feels when I play him. I regret having spent IP on him. He’s awesome in the right hands; the right hands are not my hands.
  • Jax. Free at PAX last year, he just doesn’t feel right to me. Maybe if I play him a bit more he’ll grow on me? Some champions are admittedly an acquired taste. Though – even with the awesome cardboard tube samurai skin – he looks kinda dumb to me.
